Description

This book about successful partnerships and strategic alliances takes you on an introduction journey into the topic of strategic alliances. It explains why a structured approach enhances the chances for success and it gives an introduction on how best to approach these partnerships and alliances.

Business partnerships and alliances are an increasingly important strategic way to help organizations grow. In 1998 Yves Doz and Gary Hamel already wrote “No Company can go it alone” as the opening statement of their book “Alliance Advantage”. Today this is more applicable than ever. The challenge is to design and execute alliances in a successful way. They bring a different dynamic than organic growth, with less control and more need for trust.

When talking strategic alliances I equally mean partnerships, collaborations and joint ventures between organizations. As we will see later on, the term is widely used for various forms of partnering between two or more organizations. It can also depend on the industry you are working in and the size of your company. I have noticed that solo entrepreneurs more often talk about establishing joint ventures, whereas large organizations talk about strategic alliances. When these large organizations use the words joint venture, they often mean a separate organization where they and their partner jointly hold the shares.

We will address these differences when discussing the reasons for partnering and have a look at the alliance spectrum.

This book is merely an introduction to the topic, its purpose is to inspire you and show you how a process can help increase the chances for success in your strategic alliances & partnerships.

The challenge is to do alliances in a successful way. They bring a different dynamic than organic growth, with less control and more need for trust. This is where this book on Succesful Partnerships and Strategic Alliances comes in.

    Intro level, but good
Reading this was the equivalent of sitting in a one hour lecture on strategic alliances. High level information that makes it a great first read when getting started with building alliances. Without a doubt this is part of the author’s content marketing strategy as a consultant for forming strategic alliances. Still worth the read.

    Well written and enjoyable read
I’m just beginning to dip my toes into the partnership realm, so my understanding of the topic is very basic. What I love most about this book are the real life examples that illustrate the points in book. That not only make the concepts easier to understand, but more enjoyable as well.

On top of that, this book is well written and researched, with all sources cited, which is rare among Kindle books.

I also appreciated the use of graphics that made the book more interesting and visually appealing. Overall, very nicely done!
